Children's Guidebook | Peterborough CathedralChildren's illustrator and guidebook designer Emma Metcalfe was commissioned to design, write and illustrate a bespoke children's guidebook for Peterborough Cathedral.
|
Monks, Mischief and Marauders tells the story of Peterborough Cathedral during its medieval heyday. Emma provided a full creative service, working with the cathedral Learning Team to take their rough ideas through to a finished product.
Meet Old Scarlett, the Tudor gravedigger and travel back in time to learn about the Benedictine monks of Peterborough Abbey. Learn about medieval religious relics such as Saint Oswald's arm, tyrannical Abbot Robert Kirkton and Roundheads ransacking the cathedral during the English Civil War!
The guidebook is designed to provide some structure and a focus for family visitors. It's a simple introductory guide to the lives of medieval monks and the Church during the Middle Ages. The book contains a selection of activities to do on site and at home. Monks, Mischief and Marauders is fully illustrated, and packed with fun facts and activities. Its colourful 'cartoon' style makes it appealing to children and full of engaging little details to spot. |
Monks, Mischief and Marauders is a fully illustrated 16-page children's guidebook and approximately A5 in size. All artwork was drawn by hand, with digital colour added.
