Castle Howard Illustrated Children's Map & Riddle Trail

I've just finished a fantastic project for Castle Howard in North Yorkshire, to design and illustrate a new children's riddle map and trail in time for an Easter launch.

My A3 map shown above is now being given to every child when they arrive at Castle Howard. The riddle in the top left hand corner of the map reveals the location of the first clue. At each site on the trail, there is a riddle which directs you to to a location within the grounds, where you will find the next riddle. Families can use the illustrated map to help them solve each clue and find their way to the next stage of the trail.

The idea behind this Riddle Trail is that when visiting Castle Howard, children tend to head straight for the adventure playground! The trail will encourage them take a look around more of Castle Howard's grounds, and give their parents a chance to look around too! Some of the statues can seem quite austere, and not initially very interesting to children, so I have tried to bring them to life on the map!
