Client: Bolton Castle, North Yorkshire

Bolton Castle approached me to illustrate a children’s guide book which they had been developing. The book took the form of a guide book, which leads families around the different rooms of the castle with facts, puzzles and questions for children to answer along the way.

Bolton Castle were keen to develop a central character who would feature throughout the book and act as a guide. They came up with Charlie the Chough, inspired by the Chough from the Bolton Castle Coat of Arms. It was up to me to bring Charlie to life and turn him into an appealing character.
