I have recently learnt that the collective noun for a group of finches is a 'charm'.
So here we have an illustration of a charming charm of Goldfinches and Redpolls perched on thistles and teasels in a decorative fashion.

Here's a new illustration I've just done, I will be adding colour by hand - however I quite like the black and white version so thought I would upload it.
I quite like the idea of keeping hens, and hopefully one day I might be able to have my own. Not at the moment though, as I live in a flat!

I am very pleased to be involved with Art Bytes, free art classes for adults in Sheffield. These are organised by local arts organisation Art in The Park, and aim to encourage adults to explore art and creativity in a relaxed and informal setting.
I am volunteering at the Hillborough Art Bytes sessions, which take place on Monday 30th Nov, Monday 7th December, Monday 14th December, Monday 11th January, Monday 18th January, Monday 25th January, Monday February 1st, Monday February 8th. They run from 10am-12.30am.
They take place at Hillsborough Trinity Methodist Church, Middlewood Road (opposite Hillsborough Park) and close to Leppings Lane tram stop.
If you'd like more info on the sessions then please ring Luisa on 0114 268813, or visit the Art in The Park Website
Yesterday's session was the first and went very well. The session was lead by artist Rebecca Strain, and we explored paper making.

I am pleased to say that I have been selected to take part in Artist Carousel, organised by Artforms & Education Leeds. Artist Carousel is a scheme with twins nine visual artists with secondary school art teachers. The artist & teacher work together to plan and organise a presentation of the artist's work, and an accompanying workshop for students at the school. The 'carousel' then moves round and each artist moves to another participating school, where they deliver their presentation and workshop to another group of students.
I have been paired with Ralph Thoresby school in Leeds, and will shortly be visiting the school to meet with the art teachers and begin planning my workshop.
This seems like a fantastic opportunity, and I'm very excited about being able to share my work with young people, and hopefully inspire them. I hope in the future to be able to lead workshops of my own, and undertake more work with people, as opposed to just working alone in my studio. This is an area of my working life I am very excited about.
