About Emma
Emma Metcalfe is a freelance illustrator who loves drawing humorous characters which entertain and educate.
Emma works by drawing with a scratchy dip pen and ink which gives her work a spontaneous and lively feel. She then adds colour to her drawings digitally which offers flexibility and allows her to work quickly.
Emma lives in Sheffield, United Kingdom and works with clients both locally and nationally.
Many of Emma's clients come from the museums and heritage sector, some examples are listed below.
"Emma was a pleasure to work with, professional and attentive to the brief. It was the first time Shaw House had created a family focused summer exhibition and her illustrations of people for the exhibitions have really helped bring the displays to life."
Caroline Pantling, Shaw House
"Emma took on the commission to design a fun, lively map of Bolton Castle and gardens at very short notice and with a very tight deadline to work to. She worked incredibly hard to produce a beautifully illustrated map which was exactly what we had asked for but even better than I could have imagined. We were over the moon with the style and attention to detail within the illustration. The map has become part of our main Castle leaflet and I am confident it will help draw visitors to the Castle with its fun and welcoming design."
Katie Boggis, Bolton Castle
"Working with Emma was easy, she sent through drafts on time, alterations on time and delivered the whole project in plenty of time. The timescale was important as we wanted the Riddle Trail in use for the early Easter holidays and had only met Emma in late January. The result was a colourful, bespoke trail featuring all the lovely aspects of Castle Howard and thoroughly enjoyed by our younger visitors."
Hannah Jones, Castle Howard
